Current Project: 1300 Stockcar for 158 Dale Yates

If you need to contact me regarding what you see in these pics, please do so, we have now numbered them so that we can refer to them much easier

1

All of the exterior panels are unbolted and cut off leaving just the lower chassis, inner wings and bulkhead

2

Large pile of left overs, some of it will be re used

3

Now the box section can be added, shown is the side of the car which also has steel plate

4

This shows some of the metalwork that forms the bottom of the chassis

5

The roll cage was formed in a pipe bender, and is installed onto the chassis

6

Roof and bonnet back in place and looking more like a car

7

Front bulkhead work

8

Front bulkhead and steering column from inside

9

Rear chassis takes shape

10

Rear chassis has plates cut and welded into place

11

More work in the front area getting the inner side rails attached

12

Floor all done and side rails are ready for being attached

13

Rear bumper starting to take shape

14

Front end has its box section put in with original inner wings terminated just forward of the strut mounts

15

Front end from the other side

16

Dummy engine and gearbox are trial fitted while further front end work is carried out

17

First part of the front bumper is attached

18

And now with bonnet trimmed to fit

19

Front wings are welded to the front chassis and the roof plate and side rails are all in place now

20

Steering column and seat are now in place

21

The rear section is now nearly complete

22

Another shot from the rear, most of the work inside is now done and we will be able to fit the upper body soon

23

The rear bumper area now finished

24

The body is now welded back on, the ride height has been set, and the front bumper is now on

25

The coming week should see all the fabrication completed then the car will be off to Dales for spraying and the wiring and fuel lines to be installed

Then the car will be back over to my workshop to fit the engine and gearbox, as I write this Dale is picking up his race engine, the gearbox has already had its diff locked up and ready to fit

26

Here we have an unusual pic, this shows the underside and you can clearly see what remains of the original floorpan, middle to front and some from each side rearwards where the rear suspension is attached to its original mounts

27

Its not far off painting now, view from the left hand side

28

And from the right

29

And in from the drivers window aperture

30

And now from the rear

31

Car is now loaded and off to Dales for interior and exterior paint

32

Car now back from Dales while we fitted the engine, the finish in this pic wasnt helped by the weather and dirt floating around the place, it was an undercoat too and the car is goign back to Dales for final painting and signs

33

Pic of the engine with bonnet open, things didnt go to plan and we had to alter and replace a few parts despite assurances the the engine was "sweet as a nut", its all sorted now. The passenger side driveshaft was lengthened to run with the negative camber on that wheel, the exhaust was made too and its sounding very good.

34

Car has now been painted, and is in the process of having its signwriting done

MISSION: completed! see it for real on 21st March
