1300 Stockcar build 3

Having built two other 1300's one for myself and the other for Dale Yates, I had an order for a third one.

Classic Car

Racing isnt the only thing that I like to have a play with, here we have my nice classis car in good old fashioned racing beige, this keeps me busy when there are no jobs on the race car etc

My 1300 Stockcar during 2011

Having won the 1300 Stockcar Buxton Points championship at the end of 2010, I chose to have the no1 on my car to replace my usual racing number of 00, although at the time of writing we are only two 1300 meetings into 2011 season, the car has undergone some minor tweaks and adjustments to keep it in trim

Roll Cage

Here we have one of our latest roll cages, as you can see a lot of work has gone into it and especially in the area next to the driver where the bars go out as far as the outer door skin, on a oval track race car this area is vital to give the driver maximum protection in the event of a side impact

You will see that the rear stays are fixed to the floor area in between the arches, rather than at the top of the arch, this is because the car has torsion bar rear suspension which is fitted at floor level [Cit Saxo/Pug 106]

Dale Yates 1300 Stockcar

This is a build I recently undertook of another 1300 Stockcar, taking what we learnt from my original build the ideas were put in place on Dales new machine

There is a full page of ground up photos as the build took place HERE

The 2009 Hot Ford

This is Jacks 2009 Hot Ford

Hot Fords are non contact class of oval racing, racing mainly at Buxton Raceway in Derbyshire plus occasional visits to other tracks, there is a similar class of racing in the midlands but nowadays the rules vary between the two promotions

Cars are up to 1600cc, with only the Fiesta, Escort and Orion allowed with a CVH engine

Cars can be built with a Roll Cage or H Frame Door Bar/Plate, the suspension can be lowered and engine mods are minimal to keep costs down

Many drivers compete and the racing is very close

1300 Stockcar

This set of pictures shows the build of Chris' 1300 Stockcar, this was a very big build with many intricate parts of box section steel, the car was built using another 1300 Stockcar as a guide plus there were lots of changes made to suit along the way

The car was originally a Vauxhall Corsa but only the upper body, suspension / running gear remain, Vauxhalls make up 99% of the grid at 1300 Stockcar meetings and as the name suggests, only a 1300cc engine is allowed with minimal modifications to a strict set of rules

This car has brought Chris some wins in 2009 and with some minor changes for 2010 we hope it will bring more

1300 Stockcars are again raced at Buxton Raceway and they were a new formula there for 2009, the heartland of 1300 Stockcar racing is over on the East Coast at the ever popular Skegness Stadium where the driver base is much much larger than at Buxton

Chris took the car to Skegness Stadium to compete as a seed in the 2009 Gold Roof Championship, however the team were defeated on that occasion but we are planning on a return to Skeggy in 2010

1300 Stockcars are a contact formula, drivers may use their cars to push the car in front out of the way or spin it round to gain places, due to the nature of this type of racing the cars have to be built to last, hence the heavy steelwork.

The fabrication of these cars is very time consuming due to the amount of steelwork that needs to be measured, cut, and welded carefully into place.

Rollcage

This is a typical roll cage made to fit a mk2 Fiesta, these cages are built to ORCi spec

We can custom make roll cages for any application, please see fabrication page for details

H Frame

H Frames are for Bangers, Bombers and can also be supplied for Rookirods and Hot Fords

Fuel Tanks

These tanks are for various applications, they have a built in fuel pump and are made from tough 3mm thick steel plate

These pics are just an example but they can be made to your dimensions

Other

We can turn our hand to almost anything relating to race car fabrication

Some of these pics are of a roll cage installation on a classic Ford Capri

The bottom pic is a Citroen AX with a V6 Engine, chassis custom made for the job
